A controversial movie The Current War is a Historical Period Drama Based on a true story. It has been made in 2017 but for some controversy, it could not make it to theatrical release. After a long two years of controversial and judicial wars finally, it released in 2019. American television and film director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon directed this film. The true story has been scripted or written by Michael Mitnick. It is about the current war between American entrepreneur and the pioneer of the Electrical Industry who invented railway air brake and very known Thomas Alva Edison.
The film has been produced by Timur Bekmambetov, Basil Iwanyk and the production companies are Thunder Road Pictures, Film Rites, Bazeleves Company. The total runtime of the film is 107 minutes. The distributors are Lantern Entertainment(International) and 101 Studios (United States). South Korean Filmmaker and Cinematographer Chung-hoon Chung worked for the cinematography in the film. Music composed of Dustin O’Halloran and Hauschka.
The casts in the film are Benedict Cumberbatch: Thomas Edison, Nicholas Hoult: Nikola Tesla, Michael Shannon: George Westinghouse, Katherine Waterston: Marguerite Erskine Walker, Tom Holland: Samuel Insull, Conor MacNeill: William Kemmler, Tuppence Middleton: Mary Stilwell Edison, Simon Manyonda: Lewis Latimer, Mathew Macfadyen: J.P Morgan, Damien Molony: Bourke Cockram, John Schwab:Rudolph Young, Louis Ashbourne Serkis: Older Dash. This film has it’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on 9th September 2017. It is scheduled for theatrical release in India on 11th October 2019 and in the United States on 25th October 2019. IMDb rated this 6.3/10 and Google users liked it 87%.
