In 1917, there was an electric motor attached to a passenger train, traveling from London to Scotland Yard Station. On the way, passengers of the train had to wear protective clothing and were gagged so that they could not speak or move. It was the first time that this type of protection had been required for an extended distance. Although the conductor had warned everyone to keep quiet, due to the extremely high voltage current that was being transmitted, many people still thought nothing of it. Many of the people on board had no idea that a huge worldwide explosion would occur just after they reached London. The explosion killed many more people than expected.
