“Six Underground” is a groundbreaking film that highlights some of humanity’s worst sins. Six people from around the world, all of the best at what they do; each chosen not only for their talent, but also for a special desire to erase their pasts for the better. The journey these six take takes them from a small, rural town in the middle of nowhere, where they become known as “The Six”, to the worldwide epicenter of the underground, where they must learn to accept and control their identities to survive. Through the trials and tribulations of each new stage, they learn to manifest their full potential, while also protecting the ones they love from the evil that would see them become one with the darkness that has consumed so much of their world.
Winner of more than 50 awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Score, the film itself is far from perfect. It does, however, masterfully portray the struggle of each character to make the decision that will keep them happy and away from danger, while also providing insight into the psyche of man and the ability of man to control his destiny. Despite some very graphic and disturbing scenes, it is important to note that the film never depicts the use of drugs or any other illicit substance. This movie is about the human mind and how certain decisions can be far more important than any amount of money, power, or even the security of your home. If you feel like you are ready for an award-winning drama about the fight to stay alive, then “The 6 Underground” is definitely a must-see movie.
