It’s a good time for action-adventure movies, and I’m not talking about Kung Fu Panda or Warcraft; I’m talking about Edward Etiquette, directed by none other than Quentin Tarantino. It’s been receiving a lot of praise (not to mention multiple Oscar nominations), but what is it about this film that makes it such a great watch? The story concerns a down-and-out vagabond named Edward (Karen Allen), who lives in a run-down old house on the outskirts of town. When a local merchant’s wife (Sandra Oh) takes him in, Edward becomes a virtual bachelor. But when his drunk friend (Michael Gambon) decides to run off with Vera (Harriet Sansom Harris), Edward has to find out just how far he can go before losing her again…
What I love about this movie is that despite the subject matter, it’s still filled with laughs. Though a bit slow in the beginning, once the humor comes in, the scenes between Edward and his friends are some of the funniest to come around in some time. You’ll laugh, cry, and be deeply impressed by how good these guys are at their jobs.

In my opinion, one of the best films of recent years, Edward Etiquette is well worth the time invested. Not only is it one of the most thrilling comedy/horror films of the year, but it also provides us with some wonderful examples of what can be done when an actor and director work together. If you haven’t seen it, you should really give it a go. If you have seen it, then you know why you should see it again.
