Certainly, when it comes to football, this is perhaps the most popular sport in the world and this is reflected by the active betting market that exists. The thing is though, cricket is starting to make up some ground. Viewing figures are on the up and the number of people placing bets is increasing too. When the T20 format was launched it was treated as a joke by many in the cricketing world. Many saw it as almost being a sin as it did away with what the traditional format of cricket looked like. On the other side, some embraced this new way. No one more so than India.<\/p>\n<p>The IPL has gone on to show why the T20 format is not just now but is the future of cricket. Limiting play to just 20 overs sees games being over within a matter of hours and leaving people wanting more. The fast-paced nature of the game leaves fans lapping it up and always being keen to get onto the next game so that they can enjoy the action. This means that TV audiences can enjoy a full game without sacrificing a week to see the outcome!<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Riding_the_wave_of_T20\"><\/span>Riding the wave of T20<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>While T20 has certainly grown and flourished, it has brought an entirely new audience to the game as a whole. While test cricket may be a little long-winded, it still has its place and it still has a loyal audience. What T20 has done is spark an interest in the game at all levels and people have begun to explore. This would perhaps account for the record-breaking viewing figures for the last world cup.<\/p>\n<p>Critics are keen to point out that the 4.5 million UK viewers still see cricket lagging behind the likes of football and tennis. This may be true, but what should be celebrated is that new people are coming to the sport and with a new audience comes new revenue opportunities for the sport.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"T20_taken_a_step_further\"><\/span>T20 taken a step further<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>If the T20 format of the game is still a little long for you at 3-4 hours, what may appeal is the <a href=\"https:\/\/ttensports.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">T10<\/a> version of the game. This has been developed to bring an even faster pace to the game with just 10 overs per team. What this has done is to reduce the length of a cricket match to around 90 minutes &#8211; the same length as a game of football.<\/p>\n<p>This move is not merely a coincidence. 90 minutes seems the ideal time to hold an attention span when it comes to sport. With the game completed this quickly, there are more and more punters out there placing wagers on matches. This increases overall viewing figures as they can now actually watch a whole match to see the outcome and to know if their bet has paid off.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_world_of_entertainment\"><\/span>The world of entertainment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Those behind the IPL are not content with a newer, faster, version of the game. It is one that seeks instant gratification. In this sense, the cricket of hold just holds no appeal.
